The objective of the research was to analyze university social responsibility in teacher training in a higher education institution in Venezuela, with the intention of optimizing its practices. The research was carried out under a qualitative approach and an ethnographic method. The population was made up of 15 university students and 1 UNERMB Curriculum director. Information is collected through an in-depth interview script. The technique for contrast was triangulation. The main results indicate that students develop teamwork and leadership skills, acquire better social awareness and civic responsibility. It is concluded that the university manages to be socially responsible by assuming the primary functions: extension, teaching, research and administrative management; creating learning communities, developing socially sustainable projects, mainstreaming ethical values in its four functions.
